About

I listen, act, and transform

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) born and raised in Rio Grande City, Texas, and I bring deep roots in the Rio Grande Valley into my clinical work. Growing up in this community has shaped my understanding of the cultural, social, and family dynamics that impact mental health, and it allows me to connect with clients in an authentic and meaningful way. I have extensive experience working with children and adolescents in Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) settings, where I provided mental health services to unaccompanied minors who arrived in the United States without their parents or legal guardians. In this role, I worked closely with youth who experienced trauma related to migration, family separation, violence, and displacement. This experience strengthened my ability to support vulnerable populations through trauma-informed, culturally responsive care. I have advanced training in trauma-informed care, immigration-related mental health, and cultural competence. As a PhD candidate in Psychology, I integrate research-based practices into my clinical work, with a strong foundation in psychological assessment, trauma recovery, and evidence-based treatment. My doctoral research focuses on immigration-related mental health and culturally competent service delivery. I also serve in the U.S. Army Reserve, which has shaped my clinical approach through discipline, leadership, and a strong commitment to service. My military experience deepened my understanding of trauma, resilience, and the psychological impact of high-stress environments.
